LETTER FROM ANN RANGEL DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Looking Forward to an exciting new year of Religious Education
Holy Rosary Parish offers all students grades Kindergarten thru High school weekly Religious Education classes, mass attendance and weekly high school youth group meetings. Our goal is to support families in the formation of their children in the Catholic faith.
We offer an environment where families can grow closer in their relationship with God and one another.
We offer students the opportunity to prepare for the reception of Sacraments. Both the First Communion and Confirmation classes are two-year programs which encourage class and mass attendance along with an invitation to become involved in the Parish life of our church.
We catechize through the teaching of Sacred scripture and discussions through textbooks, videos, creative activities, lessons and opportunities for being in community with other families in the program, Our curriculum for Grades Kindergarten to High School is based on the four pillars of the Catholic church as found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
1) the Creed (what the Church believes), 2) the Sacraments (what the Church celebrates), 3) the Commandments (what the Church lives), and 4) the Our Father (what the Church prays).
The scope and sequence for each grade or Sacramental class can be found in each Catechist guide of the main resource used for each grade. Please contact Ann Rangel for more information about the specific resource each grade uses.
Each grade level textbook, resource, and guide has been verified as accepted by the USCCB. Our main Confirmation resources are on the Archdiocese approved list for suggested resources for Religious Education Confirmation classes. Other resources are often used after being verified to be in line with the beliefs of our Catholic faith. All classes have a Spanish speaking Catechist available. The books we have purchased for Grades K-8 and Sacramental preparation are bilingual.
Parents are encouraged to attend the bilingual Holy Rosary Parent Group meetings held at the same time as our Religious Education classes. Parents of the group have an opportunity to explore what the church believes, learn more about our Catholic Sacraments, traditions and prayers and how we should live.
Registration for the 2025-2026 program year will begin on Sunday, August 3 at 10:30 a.m. in Room 5 and continue each Sunday in August except for August 31. The deadline for registration is September 5, 2025.
Please contact Ann Rangel at 210-433-3241 or arangel@hrosary.com with any questions. Thank you.
